All About Me

Welcome Letter 2018

Dear New Fourth Grader,

Welcome to fourth grade! I am so excited that you were chosen to be in my class this year. I want to tell you a little about myself and what I like to do. I can’t wait to hear about you!

I grew up in Greenwell Springs, Louisiana. I attended school in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and graduated from Baton Rouge High School. I attended college at Louisiana State University. My family moved to La Porte twenty-nine years ago. I was a substitute teacher in La Porte for seven years before becoming a certified teacher. This year will be my fifteen year teaching at Lomax Elementary. I have taught first grade and fourth grade. I enjoy teaching fourth grade and love being a Lomax Lion.

I grew up in a family of seven children and two devoted parents. I am married to Mr. Whitmore, and we have three children who all attended Lomax Elementary. My oldest son, Shane, is 33 years old. He graduated from the University of Texas in Austin and is now working as a mechanical engineer in Pittsburg after working in Australia for four years. We are so happy to have him back in the United States. My daughter, Michelle, is 29 years old and graduated from the University of Houston. She is a Special Education teacher at Grey Elementary School in Aldine ISD. My youngest son, Marc, is 26 years old. He graduated from the University of Houston and is working in construction management here in La Porte. All three of my children just recently got married, so we are excited to have Lindsay, Lindsay, and Matt join our family. We also have a dog named Roxie who is 15 years old.

When I am not at school, I am usually at home spending time with my family. I enjoy sewing, traveling, and reading. I like biographies about interesting people and realistic fiction.

You will discover more about me as the year goes by. I am looking forward to a fantastic year!
